Series 48 Curtain Walling

Classification
The Curtain Wall is designed on the pressure equalisation theory.
The Curtain Wall is complete with a thermal barrier integral with the construction.
The system is either constructed in stick form or in units assembled in the factory.
The glazing, panels and other inserts are fixed or removed from outside. The glazing rebate can be adapted to accommodate glass units or panels from 6mm to 36mm.

Materials
Aluminium extrusions for the grid shall be extruded from alloy 6063 in the TF condition in accordance with BS: 1474.
Pressed aluminium flashings, panels and trims shall be manufactured from aluminium sheet designation l200 H24 in accordance with BS: l470 for painted options and designation 5005 for anodised options.
Fixing cleats shall be manufactured from aluminium extrusions in alloy 6082TF. They will be painted or anodised to match the Curtain Wall Grid.
All screws, bolts, nuts and washers used externally shall be stainless steel grade A2, in accordance with BS: 6105.
Screws, bolts nuts and washers used internally shall be grade 4.6 steel, zinc plated and passivated in accordance with BS: 1706 and BS: 3382. Glazing gaskets shall be extruded black EPDM In accordance with BS: 4255.
Thermal barriers shall be extruded rigid PVC.

Construction
The mullions and transoms are common sections with a face width of 50mm. A range of depths are available to suit spans and wind loading conditions.
These sections contain integral grooves for the retention of gaskets, thermal barriers and spacer beads, and to receive clamp fixing screws.
Transoms are fixed to mullions via an aluminium fixing block incorporating a compressible EPDM end gasket.
Individual panes are compartmented by means of an extruded EPDM block incorporating sealant entry and exit channels which ensure adequate sealing.
Thermal barriers clip fit into mullions and transom and incorporate a groove to retain a full width external gasket.
Glass is retained with screw on clamps containing nibs to receive a final clip on cover. Mullion covers project 18mm from outer face of glass and transom covers project l 5mm.
Transom gasket, clamps and covers have slots to the underside to allow pressure equalisation and drainage.

Finishes
Paint finishes to all visible aluminium shall be Syntha Pulvin polyester applied by an approved Syntha Pulvin applicator.
Anodised aluminium shall be an average 25 microns and shall be in accordance with BS: 3987 and applied by a Qualanod approved applicator.

Weather Resistance
A specimen of the Curtain Wall has been tested at the Norwegian Building Research Institute, where no water leakage was observed up to a test pressure of 1100Pa with water applied at a rate of 17 litre/m2h.
