| Series 23 (Solid); Series 24 (Thermally Broken) and Series 2000 (Thermally Broken dual colour).
Classification
The range is extremely comprehensive and combines practicality with complete design flexibility.
Series 23, 24 and 2000 are fully co-ordinated allowing for any combination of window types to be coupled both vertically and horizontally, producing virtually any architectural configuration. All units have a common window edge profile to simplify the perimeter fixing details.
The wide variety of types and sizes available include projected side, top casements, fixed lights, horizontal and vertical pivots, sliders and tilt and turn. All units are robustly manufactured to combine strength and durability with excellent weather resistance.
The Series 24 range incorporates a thermal barrier using a 'fill and mill' polyurethane high strength resin, whereas the Series 2000 range incorporates a rolled in polyamide thermal break.
Series 23 and 24 have several common design specifications, which include a unique pressure equalisation chamber and water extraction feature to ensure high performance.
Series 23 and 24 comply with BS:4873, the specification for aluminium alloy windows. Patio doors comply with BS:5286. All products in the range are supplied to site pre-finished, factory glazed and fully weather stripped.
The range is designed to provide simple installation by reasonably skilled building operatives. However, installers throughout the UK are familiar with the product and a specialist installation service can be provided if required.
Construction
Windows, casement doors and patio doors are constructed from extruded aluminium profiles complying with BS: 1474 alloy 6063, suitably heat treated. Bars are accurately machined and assembled with mechanically cleated or screwed joints, sealed during assembly.
Series 23 and 24 ranges incorporate pressure equalisation and water extraction features, and have been developed for application in all locations covered by the exposure categories in Table I of BS:4873. Tested to the requirements specified in BS:6375 Pt. I: l989, the products are rated in the test pressure class 300 Pa for air permeability and 300 Pa for watertightness.
As standard they are supplied for exposure categories up to l600 Pa, but can be upgraded to meet requirements up to 2000 Pa and beyond.
Sizes
Window sizes shown in the data sheets are specified over all the metal frame and clearance must be allowed for fitting into the opening, and for sills and other ancillaries.
Finishes
Anodised in Natural, Bronze or Black to BS:3987. Matt or gloss polyester powder paint to BS:6496 in the wide range of colours selected from the standard swatch.
Glazing
Windows and doors glazed with single glass or sealed double glazed units to comply with BS:6262: 1982. Clear float glass will normally be quoted, but suitable obscured/patterned, tinted or solar control glasses can be supplied to specification.
Safety glazing to BS: 6262 can be provided to the requirements of the specifier.
All windows are supplied factory glazed.
Secondary Ventilation
Secondary levels of ventilation can be alternatively provided in all windows by means of hit and miss sliding shutters or two-stage fitch catch on vertically sliding windows. Patio doors have hit and miss sliding shutters as a standard.
Provision can also be made for permanent ventilation.
Weather stripping
All opening windows are effectively weather sealed using high density polypropylene waterproofed pile weatherstrips or flexible pre-formed synthetic rubber gaskets complying with BS:4255.
Hardware
Generally, hardware is manufactured from aluminium, complying with BS: 1474 or in zinc alloy die-castings to BS: 1004 to a standard matt black or white finish and as described in the individual product specifications.
Couplings
The casement range is available in one-piece multi-pane construction. Alternatively, individual purpose-made window units can be supplied with mullions and transoms for 'on-site' coupling to provide composite elevations.
Ancillaries
Extruded aluminium sills, coupling mullions and transoms, corner mullions, box mullions, column covers, and condensation channel, and a range of equal and unequal long leg applied bars to cater for windows fixed into varying building surround conditions.
