This project was broadcast on Channel 4's Grand Design programme on Wednesday 14th September 2011 and can be watched anytime on 4OD.
This project is an old Georgian mill cottage in Northumberland which had become derelict. The property was acquired by Stefan Lepkowski and Annia Shabowska to re-develop as a private residence.
As a specialist contractor in Glazed Facade design, manufacture, and installation, HW Architectural were contacted by Reid Jubb Brown (now Sadler Brown) architects practice,in Newcastle, with whom they had carried out previous projects, and asked to become involved in the provision of a number of glazed areas to the development.
The work initially involved a considerable amount of on-site work, surveying the existing property, followed by extensive design input, working in close conjunction with both the Architect and Client, to develop the project elements to the Client's requirements. These elements included Aluminium Windows, Doors, and Roof Glazing, together with Steel Curtain Walling - required to provide an impressive feature and light source to the new kitchen and dining area within the house. The project also had a requirement for bespoke Frameless Glass feature windows, connecting the existing building to a newly constructed area of the development.
Following finalisation and approval of the design proposals, HW Architectural then commenced manufacture at its premises in Brighouse, and on completion, then carried out the on-site installation and glazing, to deliver the finished project to the Clients satisfaction.
